Hi everyone-
I'm a graduate industrial design student and am currently working on a paper about how interface design for places such as Daily Kos can either encourage or dissuade real work participating in an active participatory democracy.
I'm using Daily kos as one case model, but i"m trying to find some interesting big names that people might now about that I could study - So I was hoping you might be able to help
I think the momentum that has been built up through the activity of blogs has been phenomenal since 2004 and it's been really interesting to be here and watch it while it happened. I do not have any preconceived notions or any agendas that I am trying to use, but basically want to look a few successful websites that are about; political, social, Community action or environmental change.
There are a few key components I'm looking for:
- sizable userbase
- succint mission
- Community blogs with user generated content, and adequate response mechanism.
- Strong sense of community within the users.
So, Please share with my your list of online communities that you feel encourage you to help change the world. They can be local, national, international - whatever. I'm more interested to look at how they are formatted and what they do to turn talk in online into feet in the streets activism.
Thank you for your help?
Also, Please my poll regarding your own level of activism!
